The Twin Lakes General Store has been resupplying, refueling, and refreshing visitors in Twin Lakes, Colorado at the base of Independence Pass since 1879. At the center of Colorado’s most popular hiking trails, 14er and 13er mountains, scenic lakes, and road trip drives, the Twin Lakes General Store serves summer campers, tourists, hikers, bikers, road trippers, and those discovering the scenic back way to Aspen.

About Us

Our shop dog Motu is excited to meet you - come visit our historic general store, stocked with snacks, unique souvenirs, Colorado-made liquor and food, books, toys, and more! Now under new local ownership, we are undergoing some “reverse remodeling” of this old building to enhance the look and experience of an authentic old-style general store.

Living up to our heritage as an important backpacking resupply stop along the Continental Divide and Colorado Trails and a basecamp for 14er/13er hikers, the Store stocks hiker-oriented food, supplies, and services and accepts and holds resupply boxes. We are hikers ourselves and are here to help on your adventures.

We’re your one-stop-shop for all travel and adventures needs! Browse our categories below for a breakdown of what products we have in stock. We do not have potable water to fill up water jugs or bottles, but we do sell 1-gallon jugs of Eldorado spring water. Nearby campgrounds are not expected to have access to their water spigots this 2023 season due to a major system renovation, so make sure to bring adequate water for drinking, dishes, and drowning your campfire.

We are unable to print fishing licenses. However, you may purchase a fishing license online through Colorado Parks & Wildlife.

Small but nicely stocked fishing aisle with what catches fish locally. Lures, gear, worms, sucker meat, rods and reels, local’s advice. We are unable to print fishing licenses at this time.
A surprising little book and map Store with famous Colorado coffee table books, guide books, kids books, and local and regional hiking and 14er trail maps.
Regular unleaded and non-ethanol premium fuels, free tire air, basic repair supplies such as oil, fluids.
It's a dog's world here, with basic leashes, collars, bowls, bandanas, chews, and CBD treats.
