IMPORTANT UPDATE: We accept resupply boxes to arrive between May 5 and October 4, 2025. At this time we do not know yet if possible changes in USPS delivery this summer will cause an end of deliveries directly to the store as is typical. If not, we will have to drive 60 miles to pick up USPS boxes and can only do this two days a week because of our staffing and cost. If you still plan on sending USPS, allow for extra 5 business days beyond normal. It is your responsibility to inform others who may be shipping resupply boxes to you of this timing.

Continental Divide, Colorado Trail, and Collegiate Loop Trail thru-hikers and backpackers – we will happily hold your resupply boxes. Consider resupplying in-store! Hikers get a 8% discount on food and beverages (not including alcohol), and 4% on gear. You can save on shipping costs (which range from $20 - $50) while supporting our local business!
Please carefully read the “SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS” below to ensure your package arrives on time and intact.
Please be considerate of the time it takes to provide this service - our small store will see 400+ resupply boxes in a season. Fees for large / multiple packages offset some of the time and costs we happily spend for you handling extra trash and recycling service, travel, warehouse space, and service time by staff.

Use this label as a reference for the correct way to address your resupply package. We recommend FedEx or UPS, but also accept shipments from USPS for a $3 fee. Or, come say hi and drop off your package in-person!
Boxes are accepted May 5th - October 4th, 2025. Please do not send any resupply boxes outside of this time frame unless you email us and we confirm we can assist you! Please contact us at twinlakesgeneralstore@gmail.com.
Please use your first and last name, not your trail name, to ship your package. We require an ID to pick up your package.
For the 2025 season, we encourage you to ship UPS or Fedex - there will be a fee of $3 for all standard sized USPS boxes to help cover the expense of driving 60 miles round trip to pick up the packages. Our “local” post office is in Buena Vista and understaffed - which requires us to pick up our own mail frequently. We cannot guarantee the timing of your delivery, packages may take over 5 business days to be delivered to our store, or packages may be marked as “delivered”, but still be in Buena Vista.
Think of USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes as an example of an average size box. We understand that some large boxes are for multiple hikers or contain dog food. In this case, we appreciate a heads up with an email to twinlakesgeneralstore@gmail.com, otherwise large / multiple packages will be charged a fee of $5-$10.
Please be respectful of the time it takes to provide this service - our small store will see 600+ resupply boxes in a season. Tips for staff are not required, but appreciated!
ALWAYS allow extra time for your resupply package to arrive, delivery is slow in the mountains! Our “local” post office is 30 miles away in Buena Vista, and average shipping time is 5-10 business days. We cannot “bounce” or forward a USPS package along the trail for you, this service is only available at a post office. However, we are able to purchase a new shipping label for you in the case you wish to mail any items home, or return your package to sender.
We understand sometimes life happens and you have to step off trail. If you’ve mailed your package via USPS and want to send it to your return address, we can happily hand it off to our postman for you. Please visit our Hiker Box Inquiry Page to request your box to be returned, or for more information on returning, donating or forwarding your hiker boxes.
AVAILABLE BACKPACKING BRANDS & SUPPLIES
Our store shelves may look like the inside of your resupply box! We feature many popular and expected food options, name-brand bars and gels, spreads, dehydrated food, snacks, instant foods, cold beer, and ice cream, as well as a continuous supply of fuel canisters for hiking stoves. You'll also find maps, medical supplies, backpacking stoves, pots, technical gear, backup gear, and fix-it supplies.
